Who am I? My name is Victoria but everyone calls me Vikki. I am Multicraftual, a term introduced to me by Felicia Lo of SweetGeorgia Yarns. A term that (I think) suits me perfectly. I dabble in… everything. Weaving and spinning are always at the front of my mind. Knitting and various needle arts like embroidery and cross-stitch are usually ongoing as well. Tapestry, sewing, baking, and pottery are also part of my semi-regular routine. Some crafts, like natural dyeing and whittling, are more seasonal.

Many of my crafts were once essential life skills. Skills that are slowly becoming lost. Skills my grandmother once referred to as chores as these were once everyday practices.
With the decline in the quality of everyday items due to the convenience of easy purchasing, I welcome these slowcrafts as a solution. This has led me to curate a wardrobe with materials, usually 100% natural, with customized fits.
And now, these once everyday practices of slowmaking have evolved into many aspects of my life from the food I eat and the items I use around me. I try to repurpose items when broken and I also enjoy mending when possible to continue loving them for days to come.
Through this process of exploring slowcrafts, it can produce waste. Sustainability matters, and I take pride in minimizing my crafting waste. This could be as simple as repurposing fabric into something else like reusable bags, using loom waste in tapestry, or using waste wool to cover my plants in the winter. Sometimes waste happens but I try to reuse or repurpose whenever possible.
I am an artist. Acknowledging this took time. Why? Many view crafts as mere hobbies, and I was made to feel like that is all it was, a hobby craft.
But there is so much art in these crafts. So many hours are taken to wash and comb wool, spin yarn, grow the plants to dye, weave the cloth and sew the items. And much thought was put into many of the steps, each decision making the project completely different. There is so much beauty in every choice made.
I see that in other makers’ projects as well. I appreciate the love, time, and vision embedded in every piece. Crafting isn’t just a pastime; it’s an art form, and I proudly consider myself an artist.

I am multicraftual. I am a maker, slowcrafter and an artist. I love exploring possibilities and being thoughtful in the projects I make and the materials I use. I see the beauty and value in the everyday items I use. I am excited to share my art, my slowcraft, my passion with you here. And if you are on this website, you may be just like me! Welcome!
